To commemorate Charles Darwin's 200th birthday and the 150th anniversary of publication of "The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection", the month of February 2009 marks the largest series of presentations ever offered by the Humanist Society of Santa Barbara. They will be in the Fleischmann Auditorium at the Natural History Museum, 2559 Puesta del Sol, Santa Barbara, behind the Mission. Each event will be $10 for the general public or $8 for paid-up members of HSSB or of the Museum. Parking will be free but may be limited.
- 7pm Monday, February 9th: Reaction to Darwin's "Origin of Species" - a modern twist by David Seaborg and Dave Fitzgerald on the heated public debate between Bishop Samuel Wilberforce (representing religion) and biologist Thomas Henry Huxley (representing science).
