Contemporary Singer Songwriters
Texas-based singer/songwriter, Danny Schmidt, has been rapidly ascending from underground cult hero to being widely recognized as an artist of generational significance. With lyrical depth drawing comparisons to Townes Van Zandt, and Dave Carter, Danny is considered a preeminent writer, an artist whose earthy poetry manages to somehow conjure magic from the mundane, leading Sing Out Magazine to tag him "Perhaps the best new songwriter we've heard in the last 15 years." Performing solo almost exclusively, armed with just his voice, his words, and his acoustic guitar, Danny's an authentic timeless troubadour, one man sharing his truth in the form of songs, unadorned and intimate. He split a bill with Reilly and Maloney for us a few years ago and we are pleased to have him return http://www.dannyschmidt.com/
Michael McNevin is a veteran of the folk scene, having logged 17 years of concerts across the U.S. from his Bay Area base, and has been a main stager at the Strawberry, Kerrville, and Philadelphia folk festivals. He has a unique voice, is an accomplished steel string guitarist, and, above all, is known for his vivid brand of storytelling in his lyrics. He is a past winner of the Kerrville New-folk award in Texas, and a 5-time winner of the West Coast Songwriters Association "Song of The Year". He is working on his 6th album. Five tracks from this are heard in "Weekend King", an indie film shot in Niles, where Michael grew up and currently lives. "Michael is one of folk music's best kept secrets. His voice is hypnotic, his guitar playing superb..." - Christine Lavin
