4 walls fine art is pleased to announce it’s upcoming dual exhibition of Daniel Heimbinder and Paul Ahern. Saturday, March 29 through May 17, with the opening reception on Saturday, March 29 from 6 to 9pm.
Daniel Heimbinder was born in New York City in 1972. He grew up in Houston, TX. He transferred from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to Skidmore, where he earned his BS. Daniel has lived in NYC for the past twelve years until recently moving to Austin in November of '06. Since graduating with a BS he has become completely full of it.
Paul Ahern was born in Carmel, CA in 1971. His formative years were spent living in Mexico City, Midland, TX, and then Austin, TX, where he earned his BFA in studio art from UT, focusing on video and illustration. In 2001 he moved to Brooklyn, NY and has since worked as a web designer, video editor, prop master, storyboard artist, reality show art director, and animator, all the while working on his art.
Paul discovered his method of cardboard-carving while production designing a music video in the summer of 2003. He and director Ryan Junell decided that all sets and props should be made of cardboard. While creating a cardboard painting for one of the sets, Paul found he could create striking light-dark relationships by just removing the layer of surface paper to reveal the corrugation beneath.
