DanceWorks presents the world premiere of
Zata Omm Dance Projects'
EIGHT WAYS FROM MARA
Conceived and Choreographed by William Yong
October 20 – 22 at Harbourfront Centre's Enwave Theatre

DanceWorks, Toronto's longest-running contemporary dance series, presents the world premiere of Zata Omm Dance Projects' Eight Ways from Mara, a multi-disciplinary, imaginative and visually compelling work that takes a fresh look at the ways we avoid life's misery by relating to three elemental forces – confusion, temptation and distraction.

Thoughtfully conceived and choreographed by Zata Omm's Artistic Director William Yong, this collaboration with video designer Elysha Poirier and music composer Andrea Rocca is performed by five of Toronto's top dancers. Eight Ways from Mara runs October 20 – 22 at Harbourfront Centre's Enwave Theatre.

After the stunning debut of Frames in 2009, Zata Omm and William Yong return to DanceWorks' Mainstage with this unique and powerful creation. Eight Ways from Mara uses distilled imagery and poetry from Buddhist philosophy and musings to reflect on modern society to achieve a work of great richness evoking a spirituality that guides and inspires.

Heather Berry, Kate Franklin, Nicholas Melymuk, Erika-Leigh Stirton and William Yong take the stage in this work that is as compelling as it is breathtaking.
