DanceWorks, Toronto's longest running contemporary dance series, presents an extraordinary shared program with two of Toronto’s finest dancer/choreographers: Susie Burpee and Denise Fujiwara.
Celebrating her 32nd anniversary in dance, Denise Fujiwara premieres Lost & Found, a mesmerizing solo that integrates her years of Butoh dance practice with improvisation to contemplate impermanence and explore notions of loss and discovery, attachment and impermanence, presence, and the experience of time where each moment reveals us to be simultaneously lost and found.
Multiple Dora Mavor Moore Award recipient Susie Burpee presents the Toronto premiere of Fidelity’s Edge, an unflinching and gritty look at the coarse underbelly of an intimate relationship, danced uncompromisingly by Burpee and her long-time dance partner Dan Wild.
Fidelity's Edge features a musical score by Canadian indie artists Christine Fellows and John K. Samson, the front man for the 2008 Polaris Prize-winning band The Weakerthans. The two have collaboratively written and recorded five songs for Fidelity's Edge that provide a musical backdrop of conflict and resolve, heart and heartbreak.
