African story ballet, Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters tells the story of two sisters—one sweet and kind, the other jealous and vain. When the King invites both girls to travel to his city so he can choose a wife, their characters are put to the test. This lovely African folktale teaches the importance of pride, humility, and kindness. The Dance Institute of Washington, featuring dancers of all ages, brings this story to life through classical ballet, modern and African movement, the traditional music of Zimbabwe, and traditional African dress.
Tickets are required for all performances for adults and children ages 3 and up. Tickets are $5.00 each for one show or $8.00 for both shows on the same day.
