With Alison Krauss taking the year off to tour with Robert Plant, Dan Tyminski has reformed the Dan Tyminski Band and is touring in front of an upcoming album release, Wheels, on Rounder Records. This is a great opportunity to hear the Man of Constant Sorrow and the voice of George Clooney in O Brother, Where Art Thou? in an intimate concert setting at the National Heritage Museum. He's gathered an all-star aggregation, including longtime Union Station associate Barry Bales (bass), former Union Station and Mountain Heart member Adam Steffey (mandolin), sideman extraordinaire Ron Stewart (banjo, fiddle), and newcomer Justin Moses (fiddle, dobro).
This will be a homecoming for Dan as he grew up in Vermont, cut his bluegrass teeth attending area festivals with his family, and got his first start in a band with his older brother Stan in The Green Mountain Boys. His first professional gig was with The Lonesome River Band, and since 1994, he's been an integral member of Alison Krauss and Union Station. He's been acclaimed as one of the finest voices in bluegrass, country and popular music, has won numerous Grammy and International Bluegrass Music Awards, and has made countless national television appearances.
Dynamic on stage, down to earth off stage, Dan Tyminski has the voice, instrumental chops, and charisma to be counted among the most recognizable and popular male vocalists on today’s bluegrass and country music scenes. Yet his demeanor – low-key and laconically sly – ensures that all the accolades are the product of his own innate gifts.
