Popular Jewish Rocker Dan Nichols and his Band, Eighteen, Rock Marin for the First Time. Dan Nichols, one of the most popular and influential Jewish musicians in North America is performing with his full band, Eighteen, for the first time in Marin County on Sat, Oct. 30, at 7:30pm, at the Osher Marin JCC, in San Rafael.
Nichols and Eighteen define Jewish rock. Inspiring a generation by mixing the best of modern rock with Jewish themes, Nichols and his band energize audiences across the country and get everyone, from kids through adults, jumping out of their seats. Since 1996, Eighteen's albums have garnered with critical acclaim but it's their concerts that really showcase the magic.
Eighteen's musical compass is set by its founders, Nichols and Mason Cooper. Nichols has fronted bands that have performed with Hootie and the Blowfish & Ben Folds Five in addition to singing at Jewish congregations in Raleigh, NC and Nashville, TN. Cooper has written and produced hit television themes and film music, and has worked with George Michael, Bernie Taupin and Stevie Wonder. Fusing their passions, they now write and perform music that fosters pride in Jewish identity and touches audiences at their core. Performing in over 200 concerts each year, Nichols' music has become an important part of the Jewish world, with Jewish youth & clergy alike incorporating it into their educational curriculum and services. Eighteen's last two albums have attracted a legion of growing fans with songs like "The Na Na Song," "B'tzelem Elohim," "Kehilah Kedoshah," and "My Heart is in the East".
