More about our guests:
Eliot Lipp

http://www.myspace.com/eliotlipp
To listen to advance tracks from Tacoma Mockingbird, please visit: http://www.heftyrecords.com/heftyEUtour/eliotlipp
Tacoma native Eliot Lipp has been around the world, and then some. Featured as one of 2005?s ?Next 100? in URB Magazine, Eliot cut his musical teeth here in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles. Eliot?s first recording for Hefty was featured as part of the highly collectable Immediate Action series, followed by the Rap Tight EP, released on December 6, 2005. His masterful take on instrumental hip-hop is reminiscent of artists like DJ Shadow, A Tribe Called Quest, RJD2, Madlib, etc., and has been well-received by the likes of Pitchforkmedia.com, XLR8R magazine, Textura.org, and others. His first full-length for Hefty will hit stores on February 21, with coinciding tour dates throughout Europe and North America.
Daedelus

To listen to tracks from Exquisite Corpse, please visit: http://www.heftyrecords.com/daedelus
Daedelus has perfected a style of music that combines mid-century instrumental melodies with hip-hop beats and danceable electronic cut-ups. He has recorded for the Plug Research, Ninja Tune, and Mush labels, among others. He has worked with such artists as TTC, Busdriver, Mike Ladd and MF Doom; his works have also been remixed by the likes of Madlib, Anti-Pop Consortium, Prefuse 73, and Venetian Snares. Daedelus is also one-half of Adventure Time (Plug Research), and has a regular shift as a disc jockey on Dublab.com. His most recent release, Exquisite Corpse, is available on Mush Records.
RE:UP Magazine / Six8
http://www.reupmag.com
http://www.myspace.com/reup_magazine
Known for its refreshing take on the best happenings in urban arts and culture, the RE:UP Magazine is a quarterly publication based in San Diego and Brooklyn. Published worldwide, the magazine has gone on to open its own gallery and storefront in San Diego. Tonight?s event will feature one of their talented DJs, Six8 (also known as Joshua Lynne, Art/Creative Director for RE:UP).
Slicker
http://www.weallhaveaplan.com
http://www.myspace.com/heftyrecords
The project of Hefty founder John Hughes, III, Slicker is definitely something else! Many have tried to merge hip-hop, jazz and pop, but few have been able to keep the integrity of these genres intact at the same time. Hughes also has a new project, Some Water and Sun, that features Shin Tasaki of Spanova. Described by The Wire as ?avant-pop so funky it?ll make you scratch yourself,? All My Friends Have to Go has set a high bar for any act seeking to test the limits of collaboration. Tonight?s event will feature a rare DJ appearance from John Hughes, III; he will be previewing several upcoming Hefty releases during his set.
Telefon Tel Aviv / Charlie Cooper
http://www.telefontelaviv.com
http://www.myspace.com/fuckoffyounonce
From the Big Easy to the City of Wind and back, the members of Telefon Tel Aviv have managed to keep critics tethered to their headphones with two full-lengths (Fahrenheit Fair Enough and Map of What Is Effortless) and an EP (Immediate Action 008). With a regular DJ residency at Sonotheque and remixes for such artists as Bebel Gilberto, Nine Inch Nails and Oliver Nelson, there?s been plenty of action from these two behind the decks. The Oliver Nelson remix by Telefon Tel Aviv was even nominated as Song of the Year by Gilles Peterson?s Worldwide Music Awards! Nothing but quality with these guys. Tonight?s event will feature the talents of Telefon member Charlie Cooper.

This event is just the first of many to come this year. We look forward to celebrating the good times with you! Hope to see you there.
