Da Camera of Houston’s long-standing A Little Day Music series of free lunchtime concerts continues in the Grand Foyer of the Wortham Theater Center, Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at noon. This month’s free program features a program presented by pianist and Da Camera Artistic Director Sarah Rothenberg. A Little Day Music is sponsored by Waste Management. Noted for her “power and introspection” (The New York Times) and “heart, intellect and fabulous technical resources” (Fanfare), pianist Sarah Rothenberg has one of the most distinguished and creative careers of her generation. Recognized internationally for her innovative programs linking music to literature and the visual arts, she has performed at Great Performers at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, Barbican Centre (London), The Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Palais des Beaux Arts (Brussels), Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, 92nd Street Y, Library of Congress and concert series across the U.S. A three-time recipient of the CMA-ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, she also received a unique “Special Commendation for Outstanding Programming Concepts” from Chamber Music America in 1999 for her work as Artistic Director of Da Camera of Houston.
The A Little Day Music series features live music and drawings for tickets to Da Camera’s upcoming events. A Little Day Music concerts fulfill an important aspect of Da Camera’s mission to develop the audience for chamber music and jazz by making it accessible to everyone and part of everyday life.
