Tickets are selling fast for Cyndi Lauper Live with many concerts having already sold out in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
The Perth event, which is an out door concert is also selling strong.
Cyndi Lauper was the first artist to have five top ten singles from a debut album which included her mega hit Girls Just Wanna have Fun. Cyndi has sold over twenty million albums world wide and has won many awards including a Grammy Award winner, American Music Awards, MTV Music Video Awards and an Emmy Award.
“Australia is one of my very favorite places,” said Cyndi Lauper who is currently in New York. “I cannot wait to get back there and perform. I will do all my hits plus more, it’s going to be a party and I hope to see you there!!”
For over 25 years, Cyndi Lauper has been a devoted advocate for Aids Research, AMFAR, as well as GAY communities all over the world. Cyndi will be in Sydney during Mardi Gras.
Over fifteen artists, including the late, great Miles Davis, have covered her classic, Time After Time.
Most recently, Cyndi Lauper composed the music for the independent film, Private Property as well as the title song for Nick Cassavete’s indie hit, Unhook The Stars.
Cyndi has released 11 albums, over 40 singles and has sold more than 25 million records world wide. She has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, 2 American Music Awards, 7 American Video Awards, 18 MTV awards and ranked #58 of the 100 Greatest Women of Rock by VH1.
As an actor, Cyndi has appeared in such features as Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle, Life With Mikey, Off and Running, Vibes and opposite Christopher Walken in her critically acclaimed dramatic role in The Opportunist. Television credits include Queer as Folk, Live and Kicking and Noel’s House Party and her Emmy Award Winning performance for Outstanding Guest Performance in a Comedy Series as Marianne Lugasso on Mad About You. Cyndi has also lent her talents to other film and TV projects voicing animated projects for Disney and The Simpsons. Cyndi made her Broadway debut in 2006, in the role of Jenny in The Threepenny Opera.
In 2007 Cyndi Lauper has been touring the US with several other artists for the True Colors tour, conceived by Cyndi Lauper stemming from her desire to give back to the community. Through a joint program with the Human Rights Campaign, the tour brought together Americans across the country to voice their solidarity against discrimination and for equality and raise public awareness about the issues facing the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. This 15 city US nationwide tour, was a great success.
When last in Australia in mid 2004 Cyndi received rave reviews for her sell out live shows across the eastern states of Australia. Cyndi is currently in the studio, recording a CD that will be out early 2008.
