In recent months, the issue of cyber-bullying has been all over the news. More and more, students are using email and internet sites such as YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, and ratemyteachers to post material about other students or teachers that is humiliating, sexually explicit, hurtful, defamatory, harassing and/or threatening. At one Toronto school, a support rally for students suspended for cyber-bullying turned violent, resulting in four students being charged with criminal offences.
Join the Education Law Section and our expert panel to hear the latest views on what causes cyber-bullying, its impact on students and staff, legal tools to address it, and practical strategies for educators.
