Dutch-born doctor Ebbo (Pierre Bokma), one of the best in his field, is relentlessly running a floundering sleeping-sickness program in Africa, when Parisian doctor Alex (Jean-Christophe Folly), of Congolese descent but uncomfortable in his African surroundings, is sent to evaluate Ebbo's program. Filmmaker and comic book artist Ziska Riemann presents an assured debut reminiscent of GHOST WORLD as goth girl Oona (Sarah Horvath) and her best friend Ari (Jella Haase) weather the unforgiving terrains of high school and home.
