Cupcake is the reading series for New York's best women writers. The next edition of the free, monthly series features Martha Witt and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Martha Witt grew up in Hillsborough, North Carolina. She received her M.A. in creative writing at Johns Hopkins University, and an M.F.A. in fiction writing at New York University, where she was a New York Times fellow. Currently, she lives in New York City. "Broken As Things Are" is her first novel.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie grew up in Nigeria, where she attended medical school for two years at the University of Nigeria before coming to the United States. A 2003 O. Henry Prize winner, Adichie was shortlisted for the 2002 Caine Prize for African Writing. Her work has been selected by the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association and the BBC Short Story Awards, and has appeared in various literary publications, including Zoetrope and the Iowa Review. She now divides her time between the U.S. and Nigeria. "Purple Hibiscus" is her first novel.
