In conjunction with the exhibition “RECOGNIZE! Hip Hop and Contemporary Portraiture,” the Portrait Gallery presents an evening with world-renowned poet and educator Nikki Giovanni.

In an interview conducted by playwright Jennifer L. Nelson, Giovanni will examine her life and work as a poet, her observations on hip hop culture, and her recently published books, “Hip Hop Speaks to Children” and “Lincoln and Douglass.”
