About the workshop:
Cloud computing is fast becoming more than a buzz word and turning into reality. Unlike jargon like Utility Computing that was part of everyday conversation but was not realized fully, cloud computing is helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) today! Many evangelists believe this not-so-new paradigm will completely change the way data centers operate in the near future.
This workshop aims at introducing cloud computing in a fast-paced, hands-on, interactive session, where you will also get an opportunity to network with people who are working on this game-changing technology today.
We will cover:
- The evolution of cloud computing
- Virtualization at an inflection point
- A practical approach to cloud computing and its impact on SMEs
The session is divided into a 2-hour backgrounder session followed by a 2-hour lab, where we will see how a server and infrastructure is deployed in the cloud using one of the cloud infrastructure providers.
Prerequisites (please read carefully):
Participants should be familiar with server technologies. Basic reading on the current state of the cloud is strongly recommended; the following links can provide quality information:

For the lab, a Windows Azure account is required for you to follow the hands-on session effectively. If you do not have an Azure account, you will have to follow the speaker on screen for the lab session; it is strongly recommended that you sign up for a Windows Azure account – you will find more instructions at http://www.microsoft.com/azure
