Featuring:
Angel Alanis
(A-Squared Muzik)
Angel Alanis (aka A-squared, Subsonic) is one of today?s most diverse and consistent producers of dance music to come out of Chicago. With an uninterrupted flow of releases since 1997, he has unleashed explosive tracks ranging from funky disco workouts to tribal house, through the depths of hard-house and minimal techno.
In 2001, Angel formed his independent label, A-Squared Muzik, and released his underground hit 'Do You Like the Way You Feel When You Shake'. It was featured on numerous compilations world-wide, including Darren Emerson?s 'Global Underground: Live in Singapore,' Charles Feelgood?s 'DJ Mixed,' Christian Smith?s 'Tronic Treatment', and DJ Dan?s 'In Stereo.' To off-set A-Squared Muzik's tech-house and tribal sound, Angel has created 2 new labels, A Trax and Subject Unkown, serving as an outlet for his signature Chicago sound that he's known for, and a darker, more experimental sound that we can look forward to hearing in the near future.
2004 proved to be a plentiful year for Angel. He secured a spot on BPM Magazine's Top 100 DJ List, produced DJ Colette?s Dancestar Award winning song ?Feelin? Hypnotized? for use in a Motorola commercial, released brand new tracks on DJ Dan's In Stereo, Donald Glaude's Eden, and released the funky floor filler "InternASStional" on his own label A-Squared.
Starting this year off with his dark yet uplifting electro track 'Knob Job' getting licensed to John Digweed?s Fabric 20 CD, and completing a remix for Felix Da Housecat to be released on Subliminal, Angel is spending most of his time in the studio working on his full length artist album under the name Magic Elephant Orchestra. The album includes a full range of musical styles from harder edged industrial rock to light melodic electronica. This year Angel is sure to unleash more new sounds that will surprise and delight his fans. He has become one of the pioneering artists in today?s dance scene, having helped carry techno and house music into the new millennium as he continues to push the boundaries of dance music into the future.
plus special guests:
Ramie Burns + EBAR
(General Funk Theory, Sifted Recordings)
General Funk Theory is a tag-team DJ performance concept made up by veteran New York DJ/producers EBAR and Ramie Burns. As prolific house music and techno producers on such labels as RCA Victor, BMG, Bluem, Stay Up Forever, Episode, Megamen Sounds and their own Sifted Recordings, EBAR and Ramie also have a combined 24 years DJ experience in rocking dance floors worldwide. Having played everywhere from Ireland to Thailand, Paris to Miami, Amsterdam to Chicago, Dublin to Cologne, London to Antwerp, both DJs bring their own styles and skills together to forge their pioneering and unique sound. Their music rides somewhere on the boundaries of the funky house of San Francisco, East coast tech-house, the stomping techno of Northern Europe and the percussive tribal drums of Miami Beach. Visually, the pair play off each other on the DJ mixer and whip the crowd into a frenzy, as witnessed by a recent performance at the infamous Los Angeles mega club Spundae.
Ramie's musical selection ranges from 125bpm funky house to 140bpm techno and breaks. His mixing style incorporates the traditional approach of a smooth seamless transaction between tracks whilst embracing the turntablist hip-hop approach to mixing. He is also known to produce developmental Dub influenced Tech-House as recently witnessed on his Electric Drums EP. As an experienced DJ and producer Ramie is becoming an in demand commodity on the remix end of things for his explosive cutting edge ideologies on electronic music.
EBAR's first commercially released DJ compilation mix CD, ?made2lounge?, hit record stores worldwide in February 2004. The CD, despite being a mix compilation, also features 7 tracks written and composed by EBAR, some unreleased, ranging from deep sexy house to more straight-ahead pumping material. More recently, EBAR has entered into a partnership of the acclaimed and prestigious deep house label Central Park Recordings.
Peter Anthony
(Hallucination Limited, Ol' Skool Bastids, Kickdrum.Media)
Following his relocation to New York City in 1995 to head up the A&R Department at Astralwerks, Peter Anthony has made a name for himself by taking musical chances and pushing the envelope. Stirring up the New York underground with a series of small parties and events featuring guests that subscribe to a like-minded vision of electronic music's future, his most famous brainchild, Sleaze Factor, was New York's first club night to pioneer a tech-house music policy.
This mover and shaker has rocked it from Anchorage to Ibiza, sharing the decks with The Chemical Brothers, Richie Hawtin, Aphex Twin, Josh Wink, Dave Clarke, Carl Craig, Mr. C, Stacey Pullen, Rolando, FC/Kahuna, Mark Broom, "Evil" Eddie Richards, Gavin Hardkiss, Dave Mothersole, Pure Science, Nathan Coles, Q -Burns Abstract Message, Asad Rizvi, Freaky Chakra, Silicone Soul, Grant Dell, Richard Grey, and Three.
2003 found Peter finally taking his knack for choosing incredible tracks and stepping behind the mixing desk, teaming up with long-time Brooklyn Storm Rave scenester Michael Mercer under the remixing guise of the Ol? Skool Bastids. With two remixes under their belts, one for Seamless Satori to be released on the fledgling Listen To Reason label and a second, for producer Earth Deuley, the two were destined to light up dancefloors. Add to that a summer tour of Europe, capped with an Ibiza debut with gigs at coveted island clubs Ibiza Underground and Guarana and an invitation to play the infamous London party Whoop Whoop ? the first American DJ to grace the decks of this underground institution in its 10-year existence. Since then, Ol? Skool Bastids have been feverishly working on a cache of original material to shop to willing labels and this summer?s triumphant return to Europe finds this hard-working new talent on the circuit rocking Ibiza at DC10 and a headlining gig at Ibiza Underground with 300 mad partiers screaming ?uno mas? until well after daybreak!
