At this seminar from the University of Salford's Learning & Teaching Research Network, Dr. Monica McLean, Associate Professor and Reader in Higher Education, University of Nottingham will generate discussion about the extent to which contemporary UK university pedagogy focuses on the 'moral practical liabilities' (Habermas, 1985) of our time.
She will suggest a definition of 'critical pedagogy' which is drawn from Jurgen Habermas' theory of communicative action and consider how feasible its practice in university curriculum and classrooms might be.
