The Industry, a new experimental opera company, brings together over 50 artists from every discipline to create and inhabit the landscape of Crescent City. Anne LeBaron's raucous, electronica-infused hyperopera, featured twice in New York City Opera's VOX showcase of new American opera, springs to life in an industrial warehouse at Atwater Crossing. With a hurricane on the move, ghosts fleeing the city and a marauding band of revelers celebrating the end of the world, Crescent City verges on the edge of destruction. Will the voodoo priestess find the one good soul who will save it? Free guided tours of the Crescent City sets on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 12-6 PM.
With a gala opening of the opera on Thursday, May 10, 2012, Crescent City will run for three weeks, Thursdays through Sundays, closing on May 27, 2012. Performances are at 8:00pm. On Friday, May 11th, The Industry will host an artists` reception on set, inviting guests to see the installations up close.
