The Space Between Performance Collective brings you CREATURE from 14 - 17 September 2011 at Theatre Works in St Kilda. Newly formed, The Space Between Performance Collective is the brainchild of Butoh performance artist Gabrielle New and serves up some of Melbourne’s finest dance artists, designers and photographic works for a limited time only! Audiences are invited to fall down Alice’s Rabbit-hole and step into Dorothy’s Tornado on a journey where everything is unknown... and nothing is as it seems.
CREATURE is a journey from innocence to maturity. Through the art of Butoh (a contemporary Japanese movement theatre aimed at redefining the limits of dance and theatre) be seduced by the surreal worlds of CREATURE, as seven female performers journey inside an ever changing world constructed by artist Paula Van Beek. Supported with original sound scapes from world renowned UK composer Norm Skipp, CREATURE is directed and designed by Gabrielle New and is set to offer Melbourne audiences an exciting, new direction from the world of Butoh.
CREATURE: The Photographic Exhibition by Robert Spillane, will also take place concurrently at Theatre Works.
