From Rock Hudson’s 1985 death of AIDS to Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize winning play Angels In America, HIV/AIDS awareness was center stage in the 80’s and 90’s. Artists and arts organizations were challenging public perceptions and there appeared to be an outpouring of AIDS awareness through the performance. How has AIDS activism in the artistic community shifted and evolved over the past 25 years? What are individual artists and organizations such as Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, A Classical Action, and Make Art/Stop AIDS doing today in terms of HIV/AIDS activism? Join dancer/choreographer David Rousseve and other special guests in a discussion on the evolution of HIV/AIDS activism in the arts.
