$26.50 - Register Online
Do you feel you often get stuck playing yourself on stage? Do you find yourself playing the same hackneyed characters again and again, and realize you've seen them before, from other people? Set yourself free from boring character work! In this workshop you'll learn to create new and interesting characters that are unique to you alone. Put them in your hip pocket, bring them on stage and learn techniques for creating brand new characters on the fly. Not only will you learn to manifest new characters on demand, but you'll work on making your character-based scenes better.
Zabeth Russell has been performing and teaching improv for years, you guys, years! She was a member of the artistic staff at ImprovBoston before landing at iOWest, where she regularly performs with Trophy Wife, Armando, IO Rep, Middle Seat, and the Apple Bottom Gang. She's performed and taught in improv and comedy festivals too numerous to mention. Most recently she taught Harold technique in Austin, Texas, and scenework at the Women in Comedy Festival 2010 in Boston, Massachusetts. Film and TV credits include the PBS film Breaking the Mold, the FOX-TV pilot Page Six (which she also co-wrote) and the Clint Eastwood-directed Mystic River. You may have also seen her yell at Howie Mandel to quiet down in a commercial.
