On April 28, 1858, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux’s Greensward plan was selected as the winner of the public design competition for New York’s Central Park, the first urban landscape park in America. We celebrate the 150th anniversary of this historic event with a conversation among scholars about Olmsted, Vaux, and the park, and take a look at the distinct roles the two men played in realizing their vision.
