NOTE: This is the two part course taking place on August 18th and August 25th.
A lot of beginning-to-intermediate photographers do not realize how many options, features, and creative controls are built into lenses. Photography is much more than just understanding where that little shutter button is to “take a picture.” We can go from taking pictures to creating images by applying non-linear approaches to our photography.
You will learn the purpose and use of dials/buttons on your camera and camera menu functions which will greatly enhance your photography. Eli gets invited to serve as competition judge by several camera clubs in the area. One of the key components he sees missing by many photographers is good composition.
If you don’t know what you’re doing, the triad relationship between f/stops, shutter speeds, and the camera’s built-in meter can be your “Devil’s Triangle”—a mystery that’s scary and that can often produce terribly inconsistent results.
This last portion of the course will “connect the dots” by seeing actual examples of photographic images by a professional. Eli will visually show how he has applied the very same principles and concepts taught in this course.
NOTE: Bring your camera and camera manual to class. Time permitting, Eli may provide feedback to a few students’ photographs, so bring a couple of prints or digital files so Eli can give you feedback on your work. If time does not permit, Eli is willing to stay an extra 30 minutes after class to give you a critique/feedback on your photography.
