Crash Test Dummies
REGO
Seeing the Crash Test Dummies perform live may rocket you backward momentarily, with Brad Roberts' distinctive voice conjuring hits like "Mmm, Mmm, Mmm, Mmm" and "Superman", but it will also land you firmly in the present with modern folk rock perfected over 20 years of touring & recording. Last year's critically acclaimed "Oooh La-La!" (“Soaring string arrangements, Roberts’ booming baritone, and Ellen Reid’s airy vocals…captivate the listener.” - Venus Zine) and the wildly successful accompanying tour cemented the GRAMMY-nominated band's relationship with fans new and old. In that same spirit, Crash Test Dummies is embarking on an eleven city spring tour through markets familiar (New York, DC) and new (Nashville, Charlotte, Atlanta) playing revered listening rooms.
The show, which never fails to impress ("...easily the most breathtaking acoustic act you’re likely to see... Roberts’ and Reid’s distinctive voices exert amazing prowess." - Consequence of Sound)will touch on the breadth of material that Roberts has developed with a variety of collaborators over a storied career and nine notable albums. The most enduring of these collaborators is band co-founder Ellen Reid, who will join Roberts on this tour along with Stuart Cameron and Murray Pulver alternating on rhythm guitar duties. The three piece will be sure to play 'the hits' - of which there were plenty - as well as a vast array of material that makes them such an enduring force in folk rock ("Should be taken seriously in 2010 and beyond." - Huffington Post). In addition to the stellar set list, the band will will offer fans a newly-released, limited edition collection of song demos (Demo-litions) available only at the shows (and of course on their web site). This taste of never-before-heard recordings will prime the palate for a new studio release later this fall.
On, From The Royal Arcade, Rebecca drops her first name from the title and embarks on larger adaptations of her acoustic songs and themes of adolescence and images of changing seasons. Accompanied by a stellar cast of musicians, REGO is comprised by Rebecca Rego (Vocals/Guitar), Stephanie Whiton (Drums), Michael Biederman (Guitar), Mike Przygoda (Keys/Multi-Instruments) and Renee Serritella (Bass). From the opening track, Astronauts, to the final track Frozen Cars, Rebecca's sultry vocals are front and center and a clear focus throughout the album.
