The purpose of this comprehensive course is to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide care for sudden life-threatening illnesses and injuries in adults, children and infants until professional help arrives. Course topics include:

*How to recognize and properly respond to an emergency
*How to assess a conscious and unconscious victim
*How to recognize and provide care for breathing emergencies including choking and respiratory arrest
*How to recognize and provide care for a heart attack
*How to perform CPR
*How to provide care for bleeding, burns, muscle, bone and joint injuries
*How to recognize and care for various medical emergencies such as shock, fainting, strokes, diabetic emergencies, seizures, and poisonings
*How to care for extreme heat and cold emergencies.
