In the course of the past two decades Turkey has established itself as the leading production capacity in the European fashion industry. At the same time the Turkish industry is in a major transition and is relying more and more heavily upon the development and marketing of its own brands that are developed with Turkish and international designers. With twelve million inhabitants, the city between the Orient and the Occident inspires the industry with its fascinating mixture of cultures, and has always been considered to be a major trade centre for Europe and the Middle East. Thus CPI is filling an overdue gap for fashion.
Numerous renowned domestic and international brands and designers presented themselves at the CPI premiere. Visitors came to both events from over 20 countries. CPI is being a fashion hub for East & West and also North & South.
After the successful start of cpi in August 2010, ITKIB, together with consultancy of IGEDO Company, is in full progress of preparing the next cpi from February 2 to 4, 2011. ITKIB has aimed to organize cpi to respond to a need that has resulted from conjuncture changes in international fashion trade shows. Istanbul has established, within the recent years, an important hub between the commonwealth of independent states such as Kazakhstan, but also the Near Eastern region from Iran and the Middle East to the African countries.
Istanbul, with its strategic location, attracts buyers from all over the world all over the year. The new concentrated platform CPI pools the purchase fashion strengths for international buyers.
The CPI „Committee" has now been extended to include associations that play a prominent role in Istanbul. CPI will be cooperating with MESIAD, LASIAD and OTIAD, the Employers' Association headquartered in Osmanbey. In cooperation with the three most important centers for the fashion business on site in Istanbul Osmanbey, Merter and Laleli we will selectively and jointly invite visitors from these areas to visit CPI. More than 1 million retailers are visiting these areas during the year with a buying volume of 5 billion USD.
After the excellent experience at first CPI, ITKIB, in cooperation with IGEDO Company, has worked on a fine tuning. ITKIB will expect around 300 exhibitors, offering the latest information in fashion styles from all over the world in a concentrated, competent and compact way. It will be clearly structured in sections for womenswear/ menswear/ childrenswear/ accessories. Product ranges will be shown from modern women, modern men, classics, casual/sportswear/denim and cocktail/eveningwear.
A new focus in all product ranges will be established showing collections spring/summer 2011 beside the regular autum/winter 2011/12.
ITKIB, the Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporter's Association, is organizing CPI - collection première istanbul in close cooperation with the Düsseldorf Igedo Company. At the same time Istanbul Fashion Week will present around 30 designer shows.
Hikmet Tanriverdi, President of ITKIB: 'With all our power, we shall transform Istanbul into a leading fashion metropolis as an international meeting point. CPI and Istanbul Fashion Week underline the new characteristics of our country being design-orientated and offering the fundamentals for fashion in business.'
Mirjam Dietz, Executive Fashion Director, IGEDO: 'CPI creates an environment for cross business opportunities and it is the new place for bolstering exports and exploring new markets.'
