Special Advance Screening: COWBOYS AND ALIENS, 2011, Universal. Based on Scott Mitchell Rosenberg's graphic novel of the same title, director Jon Favreau (IRON MAN, IRON MAN 2) brings the space-invaded Wild West to life with UFO-swooping, pistol-slinging excitement. Daniel Craig stars as Jake Lonergan, a stranger who stumbles into the grim, fear-governed desert town of Absolution, only to discover that no residents make a move without the permission of hard-as-nails Colonel Dolarhyde (played by the iconic Harrison Ford, making a welcome return to the summer blockbuster arena). When Absolution is attacked by terrifying, otherworldly marauders from the sky, Jake and the Colonel, along with a small band of cowboys, become the city's only hope for survival against the lethal alien visitors. With Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell and Keith Carradine. [35mm]Director Jon Favreau will be in attendance at this fundraiser for the American Cinematheque. No cell phones allowed in the screening. Suggested Donation: $25. No passes. Tickets will not be sold for this event on Fandango. Tickets can only be purchased by members through the member ticket line or by the public at the box office in advance (or on the day of the event if any tickets are left).
