To ballet fans all over the world, Angel Corella is the Spanish-born superstar of American Ballet Theatre (ABT) known for his technical precision, bravura dancing and intoxicating charisma. Today, this extraordinary dancer adds artistic director to his title with the debut of his new company, Corella Ballet. Founded in 2008 as Spain’s only classical ballet company, Corella, along with his company of 45, will bring a stunning program to Houston that will include String Sextet, Corella’s first choreographic work set to Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir from Florence; Solea, a pas de deaux for Corella and his sister Carmen – also a former ABT soloist; and Christopher Wheeldon’s DGV, a fast-past piece with music by Michael Nyman.
