Relief benefit scheduled for September 9 at Amazón Grill Westchase, includes free food and live music
WHO
On August 15, areas of Peru were devastated by an earthquake that rocked the country’s central coast. Working in tandem with Sandra Belmont, the Peruvian Vice-Consul to the United States, local restaurateur Michael Cordúa is hosting the Cordúa Peruvian Earthquake Relief Benefit on Sunday, September 9. The event, benefiting the American Red Cross, aids those affected by the earthquake and will take place at Amazón Grill on Westheimer.
WHAT
On Sunday, September 9, Houstonians are invited to attend the Cordùa Peruvian Earthquake Relief Benefit to facilitate disaster response and future reconstruction. A $10 donation at the door is requested. Area residents are also encouraged to drop by Amazón Grill from September 7-9 and donate gently used items of clothing and blankets as well as canned goods, house wares and personal hygiene products, which will be delivered to those affected by the disaster.

WHY
The 8.0 magnitude earthquake destroyed buildings and left many without power, water or communications. The American Red Cross is working with the Peruvian Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (International Federation) to assist those affected by this disaster. A gift to the American Red Cross will support emergency relief efforts and help those affected by the earthquake in Peru. Assistance by the American Red Cross may include mobilizing relief workers, supplies and financial resources.
