"Coon Bottom Creek" is a local bluegrass band from
Wakulla and Leon County . The core of the group is
comprised of musicians Billy Samford, (on the
5-string banjo), Red Barns (on vocals and guitar),
and the Austrian vocal couple--Maria and Mischa
Steurer, (on the upright base and mandolin).
This collective of talented musicians started to play together during 2003 after they discovered the kick of making traditional and sometimes more progressive bluegrass songs sound quite nice in their living room.
Remaining together over the years, they were later
joined by Daryl Langston on vocals and guitar as
well as the "youngster" of the group Adam
Straubinger, likewise with some great vocals, and
notably recognized for his fantastic fiddle playing.
Now with six folks in the band the occasional
on-stage performance becomes an interesting logistical challenge.
However, the enthusiastic and great feedback
they receive from the audience each time they play
is just such a treat for them.
While most songs and instrumentals they play were
not initially originals, recently Billy and Adam have become innovative with their own compositions.
This talented collective of musicians will be
performing in Sopchoppy Florida .
