Run by volunteers, we are planning to uncover some facts and stories that even local residents might not be aware of...

From Beaufort’s mental distress to glow in the dark ‘Fosse Jaw’, from historical horse races on Hackney Wick to the View Tube at the Olympic park, find out something new, share your stories and be part of the Olympic Legacy.
Breaking down the stigma surrounding mental distress, we will be having fun and making friends as we walk.
Run in partnership with Hackney Museum and Centre for Better health , CoolTan Arts has been awarded a Transformers grant, funded by the National Lottery, through the Olympic Lottery Distributor, and managed by the East London Business Alliance. CoolTan Arts is run by and for people with mental distress.
We aim for all walks to be accessible and welcome participants with disabilities, bring a bottle of water and some sandwiches. Please wear suitable clothing and sensible footwear Walks start at Hackney Museum, Address is: Hackney Museum,1 Reading Lane, London E8 1GQ (Across the square from the Empire, buses stop on Mare Street)Walks end at the Olympic park, nearest station is Pudding Mill Lane. Walks last approx 3.5 hours.

The project is also recruiting and training new volunteers. CoolTan Arts welcomes volunteers with disabilities, or without disabilities. Volunteers will get training in First aid, storytelling, Mental health first aid, and provides Walk Leader training. The group meets at various locations in Hackney on a Tuesday 12 noon to 3pm.
