Our speakers -- Duncan Stewart, Trevor Doerksen, Mike Spear, Norman Leach -- collectively have a wealth of experience in print, broadcast and online media. The conversation will feature debate about the future of print and broadcast, advertising models, the professional skills required to thrive in the new work environment, and more.

PANELISTS:

Duncan Stewart
Duncan is the Director of Research and Analysis at DSAM Consulting. Duncan has worked in capital markets as an analyst, fund manager and venture capitalist, and has helped raise and invest more than $2 billion. He is widely recognized for his work as director of research with Deloitte Canada Research, in the technology, media, telecom, life sciences and clean tech sectors. He can share his mid-year assessment with how these annual predictions have panned out.

Trevor Doerksen
Trevor is a successful executive and entrepreneur in technology, new media and television broadcasting. He is the Founder and CEO of MoboVivo, the first Canadian company to license and distribute television shows online. As an expert in media production and delivery, Trevor is frequently interviewed about new media trends

Mike Spear
Following an extensive career in the media as an Executive Producer and Program Manager, Mike moved over to other side of the journalist’s microphone when he joined the non-profit Alberta Beef Producers as Communications and Marketing Manager. His background includes winning the prestigious CBC President's Award, leading a media training mission to Croatia with the Washington-based National Democratic Institute, producing CBC Olympic coverage, and founding CBC Radio's well known "Business Network". Mike is currently Director of Corporate Communications at Genome Alberta.

Norman Leach
Norman is a historian, freelance writer and professional speaker. As a graduate of the Strategic Studies program at the University of Manitoba, and he regularly gives speeches around the world on Canadian military history. Norman’s writing has won him two Crystal Awards from the University of Lethbridge, and he has been awarded both the Canadian 125 and Alberta Centennial Medals. He has been named an honorary peacekeeper by the Canadian Armed Forces. Most recently, he served as historical advisor on the Paul Gross production of the film Passchendaele.
