Tempe’s Oldest Restaurant Builds New Outdoor Patio with stylish décor, fire pits and urban feel; Cool Prize for Contest Winner
So you think your clever and can come up with a catchy name? Then Tempe’s oldest restaurant wants to hear from you! We’re looking for the hippest, coolest name you can come up with to name Monti’s new outdoor patio which is currently under construction and scheduled to open at the end of February.
Here’s a hint – the new 2,000 square foot patio is nothing like the inside of historic Monti's. Everything outside will be brand spanking new, from the chic patio seating for 130 people, to the 3 sophisticated Fire Pits, to the urban bar stools, Tempe will experience a new side of the famous steakhouse.
Located just outside the front doors of Monti’s and facing Rio Salado Parkway, the new outdoor patio will also have its own menu, drink menu and 12 specialty beers on tap.
Starting Dec. 20th – Feb. 1st contestants should send their catchy name suggestions along with their name, address, phone number and email address to NamethepatioforMontis@gmail.com. Monti’s reserves the rights to all names submitted. Monti’s will announce the winner at the grand opening party for the new outdoor patio in late February. The winner who will be notified by mail and email will receive a complimentary party in March for 20-people of their choice on the outside patio featuring selected drinks and menu options for the party.
“The Valley and Tempe have always been really good to us,” said Michael Monti, owner of Monti’s. “So we want Valley residents to help us come with a new name for the patio, but keep in mind we are looking for names that are fresh and contemporary and really reflect this modern outdoor space that will be nothing like the inside of Monti’s.”
About Monti’s
Known for its tradition, steak, guests and ghosts, Monti’s in Tempe has had a long-standing place in the hearts of Valley locals. The oldest continually occupied structure in the entire greater Phoenix area, the building has seen the likes of everyone from Carl Hayden and Carmen Miranda to Steven Baldwin, John Wayne and Bruce Springsteen, in addition to being a Mill Avenue hot spot for celebrations, anniversaries, engagements, game watching and happy hours.
At 23,000 square feet, Monti’s boasts banquet halls, multiple dining rooms, one of which is what used to be the home’s patio and includes the original fountain – where there is also rumored to be voices of children laughing and playing when no one is in the room and a bar directly past the entry way (where there have been ghost sightings of an old cowboy), in addition to the back of house and kitchen, where Monti’s famous steaks are made. It continues to anchor Mill Avenue, hosting guests every day but also the thousands that gather on Mill for Tempe Town Lake, Mill Avenue shopping and major sporting events.
Open for lunch, happy hour and dinner every day of the week, along with featuring daily specials, Monti’s menu includes a variety of American fare from the Full Monti Burger and Broiled Filet of Salmon to Pork Chops and Filet Mignon. As owners Michael Monti and Eddie Goitia like to say, the renowned restaurant serves “steak for the people.”
