Healthcare for London, working on behalf of London's primary care trusts (PCTs), is planning to introduce world-class specialist stroke centres and major trauma networks across the capital. These plans will save lives and significantly reduce disability.
We are proposing the creation of trauma networks based around new major trauma centres, which will improve every trauma centre in A&Es across London.
New specialist acute (urgent) stroke services will give all stroke patients direct access to expert care and treatment, within a 30 minute ambulance journey.
Currently, the standard of care varies considerably across the capital. We are proposing to deliver very specialist services with the highest standards of care available to everyone.
Stroke and major trauma care in London must change: far too many Londoners are missing out on the best clinical care and the capital has fallen behind international standards.
The consultation asks for your views on our proposals to improve stroke and major trauma services in London. It also gives detail on the proposed options for major trauma networks and the organisation of specialist stroke units.
We want to hear your views on our proposals for stroke and major trauma services. You don’t have to live in London to take part but we are particularly keen to hear Londoners' views.
You can do this by completing the questionnaire which is available on Healthcare for London's website at http://bit.ly/HFLconsultation. Feel free to answer any or all of the questions.
