Workshop Description: Dig deep into the meaning and rewards of home visiting! Leave your toy bags in the car and explore how the Individualized Family Service Plan is the germinating substrate for relationship-based, family centered early intervention using natural learning opportunities. Using family scenarios create outcomes and action plans that support parents to enhance the developmental needs of their children. Learn how reflective interactions strengthen parent-professional relationships, collaborative teamwork and supervision. Use the IFSP to acknowledge family strengths that shine through and beyond the infant-to-preschool transition process. The workshop will include video, small group exploration and whole group reflective interactions. Bring your questions, your expertise and your passion and take your practice to the next level! By the end of the workshop participants will:
* Know how a “way of being” with children, families and colleagues lays the foundation for all
interactions.
* Review early intervention ethics and home visiting principles for all team members.
* Understand why and how writing IFSP outcomes “in the parents’ words” gives more
possibilities for family involvement and improved child progress.
* Gain skills for listening for and implementing natural learning opportunities through everyday
routines, relationships, activities, places and partnerships (ERRAPP).
* Learn how “therapeutic use of self” and IFSP “detective work” help us all to be comfortable
and effective in home visiting, in child care and in other natural environments.
