The Consciousness Art Movement is a premiere art event and fundraiser introducing Austin's art enthusiasts to talented local artists who support ANDORC (the Association for Nurturing the Development of Orphaned Russian Children) and this non-profit organization?s mission.
This evening at Molotov Lounge includes a silent auction with valuable items and services donated by local artists and businesses, a gallery of beautiful paintings displayed by local artists, live performance art, and imaginative music by Havilah Tower?with proceeds from the evening supporting ANDORC?s mission to send volunteers to underserved orphanages in Russia.

WHY:In 2003, nearly one million Russian children were without homes, reflecting a 57% increase since 1994. These dramatically increasing numbers of abandoned Russian children often spend their lives in institutions and suffer from a lack of medical treatment. It is not uncommon for volunteers to find the atrocities associated with neglect?severe diaper rash, bald spots from lying down for weeks without the opportunity to play outside, and the varied effects of low brain stimulation?while working in Russia?s overcrowded and under-funded orphanages.
Twenty five percent of Russian Immigrants that come to the United States are adopted by American families. ANDORC grants funding for caregivers to spend time in Russian orphanages to provide children with the nurturing and love necessary to develop into healthy children?not only giving them the attention they need, but also a encouraging a greater likelihood for adoption.
COST:Free to attend, but tax-deductible donations appreciated!
