Get the first stamp in your Connecting Families with Nature Passport while taking part in a very special experience. Join John Ball Zoo and Dr. Matthew Douglas from Grand Rapids Community College as we tag and release hand-reared Monarch butterflies as they begin their migration south. Participate in a multi-station activity demonstrating the amazing lives of monarch butterflies and their incredible migratory journey. This unique opportunity will allow zoo visitors to help scientists track these amazing animals to their wintering grounds in Central America. Other family-friendly nature activities will also be offered at the Zoo on this day. This day will kickoff the Connecting Families with Nature Passport Program - a collaborative effort between multiple environmental education organizations in Kent County.
