Today, busy HR professionals are conducting an increasing number of investigations of employee complaints. This workshop will help you acquire the skills needed to handle even the most challenging investigations, and to conduct them efficiently and effectively to avoid legal challenge.
Because the quality of an investigation can be determined even before the first interview, Day 1 of the program will focus on the initial stages of an investigation. You will learn to:
* Determine when and what kind of investigation is warranted in any given circumstance
* Draft an investigation plan, including identifying the issues for investigation
* Identify and notify relevant witnesses of the investigation
* Handle reluctant witnesses and protect the complainant
* Draft appropriate documentation that will hold up in court
In Day 2, you will continue to practice your interviewing skills, including techniques for getting the most out of the interview of the accused employee. You will also learn to:
* Make fair and well supported factual findings
* Write a thorough yet targeted investigation report
* Determine appropriate action in response to the factual findings
* Follow up with all relevant parties to the investigation
Participants will receive practical templates and tools to take back to the office and use on investigations.
