Nicholas Coley is a Bay Area plein air painter. In his Side Gallery show, he uses less conventional dynamics to arrange urban and natural environments. He explains: “I use the empty asphalt of the street to create a sparse and uncluttered majority of the canvas and forcing detail and subject matter to the periphery”.
Born in the East Coast and raised in California, Coley received a BA in Painting from the Evergreen State College, WA. He has lived in the Bay Area since 2000. This is Coley’s first solo exhibition at ArtZone 461 Gallery; he has previously exhibited in group shows at the ‘Zone.
