Dear Community,
On January 6th, 2008, the St. Innocent Orthodox Concert Choir joined with local musicians to present "TASTE and SEE: A Journey Through Ten Centuries of Russian Sacred Music" to an enthusiastic audience numbering 300. In February of 2010, we will again bring the rich tradition of a capella singing as handed down in the Churches of Russia and America to three venues in the bay area, with a program entitled:
NEVER SETTING LIGHT:
A Day of Sacred Song in the Russian Choral Tradition
Enter into the daily cycle of sung prayer as handed down through 20 centuries of Christianity. The St. Innocent Orthodox Concert Choir will present a capella selections from the services of a liturgical day -- from sunset to sunrise. The ancient lyrics are set to the music of Russian and American choral masters from the 18th century to the present, including 5 pieces by northern California composers.
Performances:
Saturday, Feb. 20th Fremont - Mission San Jose
Saturday, Feb 27th Oakland - Ascension Greek Cathedral
Sunday, Feb 28th Livermore - Asbury Methodist Church
We invite you to support this unique benefit concert in one or more of the following ways: advertising in the program, providing a tax deductible donation, or providing an item or service for our silent auction. If you place an ad, it will appear at all three venues.
Sincerely,
The St. Innocent Concert Choir
