IonSound Project will celebrate some of Pittsburgh's most talented and iconic composers on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 7 pm with a concert titled Hometown Heroes. IonSound Project members Peggy Yoo, Kathleen Costello, Laura Motchalov, Elisa Kohanski, Rob Frankenberry, and Eliseo Rael will be joined by Pittsburgh's own KnotDance, a whimsical and eccentric dance company championing "ordinary movement done extraordinarily". The program features Pittsburgh composers David Stock, Patrick Burke, Philip Thompson, Jonathan Kolm, and Eric Moe. Also on the program, American Berserk by Pittsburgh Symphony composer‐in‐residence John Adams and the world premiere of Entelechronicity between six persons by Roger Zahab. IonSound will also celebrate its residency status with the University of Pittsburgh by performing an audience‐selected work by a University of Pittsburgh graduate student composer.

The concert will take place at Bellefield Hall Auditorium on the University of Pittsburgh's campus in Oakland. General admission tickets are $10, student/senior tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. Reception to follow. For more information please visit www.ionsound.org.

IonSound Project comprises flutist Peggy Yoo, clarinetist Kathleen Costello, violinist Laura Motchalov, cellist Elisa Kohanski, pianist Rob Frankenberry and percussionist Eliseo Rael. The group was founded in 2004 with a mission to add to Pittsburgh's cultural life by programming innovative concerts, commissioning works of new music, collaborating with artists in a variety of disciplines, and exploring the boundaries between concert and popular music. IonSound has received critical acclaim for their original programming, fresh approach to contemporary music, and commitment to the city of Pittsburgh. IonSound is Ensemble‐in‐Residence at University of Pittsburgh, where they work with students and perform the works of graduate students in composition.

KnotDance is a performance company that explores the extent of what dance has to offer. We believe that dance is ordinary movement done extraordinarily. We seek to explore the full scope of movement and the limits of the body as a performance tool. In the world of KnotDance life is presented through the whimsical eyes of the slightly eccentric. Our goal is to show the power of blending art to create a unique experience not simply to give a performance. In the world of Knot silent communication contrasts with SCREAMING movement to provide visually and emotionally stimulating works. KnotDance is a trip to an

• 7 p.m. at Bellefield Hall Auditorium IonSound Project, the University of Pittsburgh Department of Music’s Ensemble‐in‐Residence, will give a concert titled Hometown Heroes, featuring music by John Adams, Patrick Burke, Eric Moe, Jonathan Kolm, David Stock, Philip Thompson, and Roger Zahab, with choreography by KnotDance.
