Critically hailed for its "inspired, magnetic stage presence" (New York Times) and comprising "Chicago's most inventive performers" (Chicago Tribune), the resident contemporary dance company of the Ruth Page Center for the Arts has consistently drawn capacity crowds at Ravinia. For this year's observance of the 20th anniversary of the deaths of Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein, as well as the 200th anniversary of Mexico's independence, CDI's program features the world premiere of Stifler's setting of Copland's wildly infectious 'El Salon Mexico' in a special two-piano arrangement made by Bernstein. Also on the program will be the premiere of 'Irregular Pearls,' a multimedia work that will explore, through travel logs of their experiences in China created by the dancers and artistic director, how the company's perceptions and realities were affected by a 30000-year-old culture that remains unbroken.
