Concert: Carleton Jazz Ensembles June 1, 2005

The Carleton Jazz Ensemble, led by director David Singley, will give a concert at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1 at the Carleton College Concert Hall. Two jazz combos also will perform, and the program features a wide variety of jazz music, including one of Singley?s own compositions. The event is free and open to the public.

Singley, also a lecturer in jazz guitar at Carleton, is an accomplished world-class jazz guitarist who has shared the stage with such jazz figures as Bob Brookmeyer, George Shearing and Arturo Sandoval. He has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared on National Public Radio?s ?A Prairie Home Companion? as well as numerous jazz recordings produced in the Twin Cities. He is currently a member of two of the finest jazz ensembles in the Upper Midwest ? the JazzMN Big Band and Zona, a progressive jazz quartet. Singley holds a bachelor?s of music degree in jazz composition and arranging from the Berklee College of Music in Boston and a master?s of music degree in jazz studies from Indiana University.
