GUSTAVO LEONE
Composer Gustavo Leone is Music and Director at the Music Department of Loyola University Chicago. He holds a Ph.D. in composition from the University of Chicago. Leone is a recipient of a Walter Hinrichsen Award given by the American Academy of Art and Letters. His music is included in the catalogs of C.F. Peters, New York, and Lyon and Healy, Chicago.
Ensembles and organizations such as Composers' Conference, Concertante di Chicago, the Chicago Sinfonieta, and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra have played, commissioned, and recorded Leone’s works. His work for the theater includes multiple engagements with the Looking Glass Theater, Goodman Theater, Victory Gardens Theater, Apple Tree Theater, and Teatro Vista.
El compositor Gustavo Leone es Director del Departamento de Música en Loyola University Chicago. Tiene un Ph.D en composición de la Universidad de Chicago. ELBIO BARILARI
Composer and writer Elbio Barilari was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. His musical education took place in Uruguay, Brasil and Germany. He has been living in Chicago since 1998. In this city his pieces have been featured at the Pritzker Pavillion by the Grant Park Festival Orchestra as well as Paquito d’Rivera’s Orquesta Panamericana, at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Furthermore he has collaborated with the Civic Orchestra, Concertante di Chicago, the Chicago Children’s Choir, the Ukranian Chamber Orchestra, the Ondas Ensemble and the Maverick Ensemble.
Among his recent works: “Los Cantos” (for soprano, choir and orchestra), “Canyengue” and “In the Heights of Machu Picchu” (both for orchestra), “Concerto for Bandoneon and Orchestra”, “Concerto for Oboe and Strings” and “2000’s Piano Piece”, all of them already performed in Chicago. Other pieces: “Tangata for Orchestra”, “Three Guitar Pieces”, “String Quartet” and many other orchestral and chamber compositions as well as more than 40 scores for theatrical plays in the US, Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.
El compositor y escritor Elbio Barilari nació en Montevideo, Uruguay. Su educación musical tuvo lugar en Uruguay, Brasil y Alemania. Ha estado radicado en Chicago desde 1998. En esta ciudad su música ha sido presentada en el Pritzker Pavilion por la Grant Park Orchestra asi como por Paquito D’Rivera y su Orquesta Panamericana, y en la Lyric Opera de Chicago.
