Professor Randel Hanson reports on a project in Duluth involving building a public field site for local food and agriculture education/demonstration on the ruins of an abandoned experimental station.
Randel Hanson is an Assistant Professor of Geography at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He is a founder/coordinator of the UMD Sustainable Agriculture Project. Prior to joining UMD, he held faculty positions at Rice University and Arizona State University. He has published widely on nuclear waste issues, particularly as they impact American Indian reservation communities. Hanson coordinated the 2009 Superior Grown Food Summit and was the Chair of the Food Systems Committee in the Duluth Green Jobs Planning Process in 2009-2010. He serves as a board member of the Duluth Community Farm, the Good Food Network, and the Center for Sustainable Community Development.
