For their Joyce debut, choreographer Philippe Saire and his Swiss-based company explore the nature of virility in Lonesome Cowboy, a piece with a bite. Performing on a gravel surface that morphs and changes pattern, the dancers create a violent, tender, and sensual work devoted to exploring how individuality, solidarity and confrontation both define and determine masculine identity. “The ambiguity of the warrior, that’s what Philippe Saire and his dancers convey so well.” (Le Temps).
