An increasing number of Georgia communities are relying on design guidelines to help preserve and maintain their sense of architectural character and design integrity. Design guidelines are commonly used with regard to commercial and multi-family development, downtown development, development in historic districts and for projects within certain transportation corridors.

This course will provide a background on the need for and principles behind design guidelines, as well as examples of how they have been used in communities across the region. Whether working with an intown neighborhood, a rural highway, or a small suburban community, this course will offer participants skills and steps on how to move forward with their own set of guidelines.
