For the 13th consecutive year, the Community Grants Program at the Parks & People Foundation will provide grants to community groups, schools, and parks friends groups located in Baltimore City. Initial informative training sessions for parties interested in the program are scheduled for Tuesday, December 11 and Thursday, December 13 at the Parks & People office.
At the community grants training sessions, individuals will learn about the grant application process, be assigned a Parks & People staff contact, and learn how to organize a project. In order to be eligible to receive funding, applicants are required to attend one of the upcoming training sessions. Admission is free and open to the public.
Through the Community Grants Program, community groups have the opportunity to apply for and receive funds for two types of grants. The Neighborhood Greening Projects grant offers groups up to $1,000 for activities such as vacant lot restoration, water quality improvements, tree plantings or garden installations. In coordination with the City of Baltimore Department of Recreation & Parks, the Partnership for Parks Projects allocate funds up to $5,000 to groups that organize activities which include park clean-ups, trail stewardship, tree planting and pruning, tools or events supporting parks.
