The first in a series of free monthly preview screenings of films from the current PBS Independent Lens television series, followed by lively panel discussions that connect communities and encourage viewers to get involved in some of today’s key social issues. This month, Lioness directed by Meg McLagan and Daria Sommers. They went to Iraq as cooks, clerks and mechanics and returned a year later as part of America’s first generation of female combat veterans. This documentary takes an intimate look at war through the eyes of women, and the U.S. military policy that bans them from combat.
